Outrage!: The New York Times (among other, usually quite sensible, media outlets) reports on a study by the Center for Media and Democracy showing that many television stations continue to use video news releases.
No mention of the fact that many print media--including the Times itself, unless I am much mistaken--continue to use press releases.

I don't take issue with The Times as much as with PR Watch, which is blaming the PR industry for the complacency of broadcast journalists. Redirect I say!

Well, if there's any ethical issue it seems to me to be on the journalistic side, but I don't really see an issue. Someone pitches you a story, you decide whether to use it. Is that decision somehow ethically wrong because the pitch came from a PR person?
