Incapable or Inconsiderate?: One of the things that annoys me out of all proportion when I’m traveling involves those people who apparently cannot stand up without assistance. These people sit behind me on planes, apparently need to use the facilities or stretch their legs five or six times on a two hour flight, and invariably do so by using the back of my seat to leverage themselves upright. Personally, I have never had a problem standing up without grabbing hold of the seat in front of me. I’m prepared to make allowances for the elderly and infirm, of course, but is the average 40-year-old businessman, like the one in seat 7D on the 7.25am flight from London to Frankfurt this morning, incapable of standing up by himself or just inconsiderate?
